This year has started badly, as far as keeping up this blog is concerned. In early January, Richard and I were on holiday in Cape Town. I described it as part of my daily blog.
Then on 21 January 2017, we heard that Richard's Mum, Joan, had died during the night, at home, of natural causes. She had been suffering from breathlessness and weakness for several months. The Newton family came together to plan and celebrate her funeral at services on 3 February 2017. Apart from the sadness, it was a memorable family occasion for the Newtons, who all contributed to the commemoration of Joan's life.Richard and I are going to Beaune in France for a long weekend at the end of the month. We hope that Laura can join us there, if work doesn't intervene.
