Monday 14 June 2021, Covid still at large

Cheers! At Lachen last week

 After more than a year of Covid cases in Switzerland and UK, we still have limited movement, in spite of having both vaccinations and no side effects. Happily, our hairdresser Bianca was one of the first places to reopen, in July 2020.

Last year, our first grandchild, Felix Thomas Newton, was born to Sarah and Matthew on Tuesday 25 August 2020 in Melbourne, Australia. He weighed 3.43 kilos.

Then our grand-daughter Camille Newton-Nathan, known as Cami, was born to Laura and Dan on 12 October 2020 in London. She weighed 3.08 kilos.

We were able to meet Cami in December 2020. On 17 December we flew to Heathrow where Dan met us. London was under strict lockdown. We could go out to parks but not meet anyone. Our return flight was postponed to 26 December 2020. In Thalwil, we also had to remain in quarantine for 10 days. Luckily our neighbour Val Ruegg had bought us some bread and milk and left them in our mailbox. After that, we had to order online from Migros.

On 27 December 2020 we took part in the annual Clixby Quiz and I posed some questions about Switzerland.

I was able to resume my art classes at Kathie's on 8 January. On 20 January 2021, Joe Biden was sworn in as the new US President. Boris Johnson is still at large as UK Prime Minister. 

This year, 2021, I have taken part in several Zoom meetings - wine tastings, sketching and the ZIWA AGM. 

Due to the restrictions on eating in restaurants, the monthly Offshoots meetings at Meier Garden Centre were postponed until June 2021. We have been able to get a takeaway from the Kunming and eat out of doors at the Portofino by the lake. 

I celebrated my birthday on 2 June at Restaurant Terrasse in Zurich. We ate in their garden and Audrey brought me a bunch of roses.
